Founded under the name of Deutsche Notenbank in 1948 to perform the role of a State bank for the Sowjet zone of occupied Germany and the GDR. Renamed Staatsbank der DDR in 1968, and dissolved in 1990. The Notenbank transferred coins and medals to the Münzkabinett Berlin in the early 1950ies and later. |
