The ancient collection of the House of Welfe, which following their exile was transferred into Austria in 1867. It was first kept in Vienna, and in 1930 was moved to Gmunden am Traunsee. In 1934 the collection followed the Ducal family to Blankenburg im Harz. From 1945 to 1983 it was in Marienburg near Hannover. In 1983 the collection was purchased by Deutsche Bank and moved to Hannover. It later came into the possession of the National State of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) and is now kept in the Landesmuseum Hannover. |
