Name

Polnische Emissionsbank (Cracow)

The Polnische Emissionsbank in Cracow was founded shortly after the German occupation of Poland on 15 December 1939 in order to take over the duties of the former National Bank of the Polish State.

The bank was also charged with dealing with confiscated resp. stolen properies and valuables in German occupied territories, including coins.

The Münzkabinett Berlin received 12 pattern bank notes issued by German authorities in Poland (Generalgouvernement Krakau) as a donation in 1942, and purchased 12 silver coins and some brass coins (a total of 24 coins of circulation money of 1923 to 1939).
