Gilpin, Gibert (1766-1827) |
Gilbert Gilpin worked initially for the inventor John Wilkinson. In 1805 he was awarded a prize by the Mechanics' Section of the Society of Arts. Working as a smith and ironmonger in Dawley, Shropshire, he issued tokens (1 Shilling and 1/2 penny) in 1811. Lit.: W. J.
