The identity of this individual, referred to in the acqusition note by the Münzkabinett Berlin for a coin allegedly found near Neuwied before 1858, is not certain. The entry may refer to Dr Friedrich Koch of Cologne, whose coin collection was sold by Heberle in Cologne in 1862 (the entry there). The bronze collection of the Antikensammlung of the SMB though mentions a teacher in Neuwied named Koch in their recodrs, who may be the photographer and teacher Herman Koch (1833-1918), later court photographer of the kings of Romania (but note different first name). |
