Bartels, Barthold

Born in Osterode. Son-in-law of the mintmaster Jonas Georgens.

From 1619 to 1620, and again from 1623 to 1625 mintmaster in Dannenberg and Scharnebeck for Duke Julius Ernst, prince of Dannenberg.

Mintmaster in Ladenburg from 1620 to 1625.

Applied for the position of the mintmaster of Winsen in 1626. From 27 June 1630 to 29 September 1631 mintmaster in Harburg for duke Wilhelm August of Brunswick-Harburg. Because of the alleged issue of false Hamburgian double-shillings, Bartels was arrested in Lüneburg.

His symbol is a cross potent diagonally superimposed with a mintmasters-tool.
