Block, Valentin

Montmaster in Northeim from 1615 to 1618, in Hannover from 1616 to 1618, and in Moritzberg (Bishopric Hildesheim) from 1618 to 1622.

Valentin Block originates from Goslar.

In 1612 in service for the Counts of Stolberg. In 1614 he bacame a smith at the mint of the city of Göttingen. From 19 May 1615 to 8 August 1618 mintmaster for the city of Northeim, from 26 December 1616 simitaneously mintmaster for the city of Hannover until June 1618. From 24 June 1618 to early 1622 mintmaster for the bishop of Hildesheim in the mint of Moritzberg. Block was to pay an annual fee of 500 Reichtalers and a rent of 40 Talers for the Münzhaus. He remained in the bishop's service in an unknow capacity after the mint was closed in June 1621 until early 1622. Block again appears as a smith at the Göttingen mint in 1624 and 1625.
