Zieseler (Ziesler), Hans (um 1585-1637)

Johann resp. Hans Zieseler or Hans Ziesler.

Born as a son of a mintmaster in Molsheim/Alsace.

From 1613 to 1616 Zieseler worked for Count Philipp of Solms, first as an assistant, later as a mintmaster. From 1616 until 1620 appointed mintmaster for Count Christian of Waldeck, then for the duke of Saxony-Eisenach and Körner. There Zieseler was dismissed because of irregularities and was sentenced to a fine of 7,195 Reichstalers, while his property was seized. Unil the 31.10.1622 he was imprisoned.

In the same year he was a mintmaster for the margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. In the end of January 1624 he became mintmaster in Neumarkt in the Upper-Palatinate. When the upper-palatinian mints were closed, he was arrested again in 1626. After leaving prison in the same year, Zieseler leased the mint in Breslau. From 1626 until 1630 he was a mintmaster for Wallenstein in Sagan. in addition, together with Hans Heinrich Jacob Ziesler was leaseholder of the Sagan mint from 1629 to 1631. Afterwards Zieseler returned as a mintmaster to Breslau (Wroclaw) in 1627, where he died in 1637.

Zieseler signs with three Zainhaken arranged in a fan-shape pattern (mintmaster's tools).
