Medalist and die-engraver from Heidelberg. Court medalist in Mannheim in 1770. Wächter moved to St. Petersburg in 1771, where he died in c. 1789. He signs with his initials GCW, sometimes with F(ecit) added, or resp. as G. C. WAECHTER. Younger brother of Johann Georg Wächter. Lit.: L.
