Corporation

Name

Hohenzollernmuseum (Schloss Monbijou)

From the holdings of the former Hohenzollernmuseum in Schloss Monbijou.

The Museum had been established in 1877. Damaged during World War Two in 1943 the Schloss (Castle) Monbijou was knocked down by orders of the Magistrates of East Berlin in 1959 for obvious ideological reasons.

Under the 2025 agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the House of Hohenzollern, a selection of items - originally moved into the Münzkabinett from the former holdings of the Hohenzollern Museum - was transferred to the newly established Hohenzollern Cultural Heritage Foundation. These coins and medals remain in the collection of the Berlin Coin Cabinet.
