in the broadest sense any Taler size coin issued in relation to trade activities with the Easter mediterranean (Levant). Specificially those talers issued by various authorities in Italy and the Maria-Theresientaler, which was intensifly issued posthumously. In particular this term identifies those Prussian talers struck in 1766 and 1767 in a (finally) failed attempt to participate in this trade.
