Name

Saar-Hilfswerk

The Saar-Hilfswerk was a National Socialist organization founded in 1934.

Its purpose was to collect donations for National Socialist propaganda in the run-up to the Saar referendum on January 13, 1935. As provided for in the Versailles Treaty, a referendum took place under the supervision of the League of Nations, in which the population was entitled to decide whether the area was part of the German Reich, France, or maintaining the status quo, had to vote. After the Saar referendum in 1935, the organization was dissolved again.

In 1934 the Münzkabinett Berlin exchanged a Saar commemorative coin with one coin from its own holdings (valued as 3 Reichmarks).
