Coin dealer Mr Oberndörffer of Munich.

Refers to the company of Nathan Abraham Oberndörffer (1760-1829), originally of Ansbach, who is attested from 1780 as a dealer of watches, jewellery, gems, silver bullion, and coins.

The company was contuinued by his sons Samson Nathan Oberndörffer (1791-1866) and Joseph Nathan Oberndörffer (1793-1866). The third son Joel Nathan Oberndörffer (1799-1843) started his business in Munich in 1829. Following his death in 1843 the business was taken over by his surviving brothers including the youngest, Maier (Mayer) Oberndörffer (1801-1849), from 1845. The latter ran an independent firm which was continued following his own death in 1849 as  M. Oberndörffer jun.

Joseph Nathan Oberndörffer established a branch in Vienna, and the eldest brother Samson Nathan Oberndörffer ran the Oberndörffer bank and shop in Munich until his death in 1862. In this year Abraham Merzbacher (1812-1885) and Max Wilmersdörfer (1824-1903) joined as share holders, and continued the company after the death of Samson Nathan Oberndörffer. In 1866 the company stopped dealing in antiquiteis, and in 1873 in coins.
