	The Kulturhistorische Museum was founded originally by the Verein für Heimatkunde. From 1911 it was located in the Altes Rathaus, and from 1913 to 1949 in the Petrikloster. In 1949 the Museum moved into the Ständehaus. The Heimatmuseum was reopened as the Kulturhistorisches Museum Merseburg in 1950. From 1966 to 1968 it moved into the Merseburg Schloss.
