Name

Mestrell, Eloye (-1578?)

A French engineer working at the Royal mint since 1560 (though not officially on the mint's establishment). Hanged in 1578 at Tyburn for producing counterfeits.

In 1572 he lost a trial with his maschinery against traditional coin striking methods at the mint.
