Possibly a magistrate in Cyzicus/Mysia in the 2nd/1st centuries BC. The abbreviation ΛΥ occurs on coins issued in the Hellenistic period. See SNG Paris no. 456 (2nd-1st century BC). Lit.: W. Leschhorn, Lexikon der Aufschriften auf griechischen Münzen II (2009) p. 648 s. v. Ly- (local magistrate?, 2nd-1st cent. BC); O. Morkholm, ANSMN 28, 1983, pp. 89-90 instead supposes ΛΥ to be an abbreviation of a mint's officina. |
