Hunton, Joseph (um 1770-08.12.1828)

Joseph Hunton (not John Hunton) issued tokens in1811 together with John Blythe & Co.

After the issue of tokens Hunton, a wealthy quaker, moved his business to 21 Bishopsgate Street Without, London, while residing in Low Leyton, Essex. After losing a considerble amount of money, Hunton forged bills of exchange, was caught and arressted. He was one of the alst individuals (according to Withers actually the last) individual to be condemned to death for forgery (by hanging at Newgate) in the United Kingdom.Withers (2010) dates his execution in 1831.
