Pfahler, Jakob (1568-1637)

Jakob Pfahler was born in 1568, a citizen well conncetd with the silver trade in Saalfeld/Thuringia.

Name variant: Jacob.

He was mintmaster for the city of Marsfeld/Northrhine-Westphalia from 1605 to 1617 (with a possible break in 1612/13). As of 1611 Pfahler was also mintmaster for the bishops of Paderborn/Northrhine-Westphalia, a post he left in 1614 taking with him all records and validation.

Drom 1612 to 1615 mintmaster in Hameln, and in 1614 in Northeim, too.

From 1618 he became mintmaster in Detmold/Northrhine-Westphalia, again leaving without validation in October 1619. His Kippergroschen from Lippe are identical to those of the same year in Corvey, as are in most cases the punches used.

Pfahler was mintmaster for the abbots of Corvey/Northrhine-Westphalia from 1619 to 1620. The draft for his appointment is dated December 1620. In 1619 Pfahler bought the former Stadthof of the Brenkhausen cloister. His widow would sell this Hof, the so-called Alte Münze (Old mint) to her son-in-law (the mintmaster Urban Felgenhauer of Corvey) in 1657 for 805 Talers.

From 1631 to 1632 again mintmaster in Corvey.

Last recorded in Höxter in 1637, where he refused to pay taxes.

Pfahler used a combination of a heart, cross, and Zainhaken (mintmaster's tool) as his personal symbol.
