Ziegenmeier, Heinrich Abel

Mintmaster in Blechhammer from 1621 to 1622.

Negotiations with the city council of Ilmenau tool place in May/June 1621, which resulted in his appointment as mintmaster in Blechhammer. This contract was later acknowledged by count Albrecht Günther.

It was agreed, that Ziegenmeier had to pay a weekly sum of 250 Gulden, and  nstead of a caution a sum of 3,000 Gulden plus an annual rent of 1,000 Gulden for Blechhammer and the related Mill. Ziegenmeier also agreed to mint 500 Marks of silver for free. After inconsistencies in his minting, he was arrested in late 1621 and imprisoned in the Schwarzburg, from where he fled on 31 May 1622.
