	Head of the Magdeburg Gymnasium. Walther's collection of Magdeburg bracteates, in particular those of archbishop Wichmann, was purchased by Carl Wilhelm Moehsen, whose collection in turn was acquired by the Royal Academy of Sciences in 1793. Moehsen did in addition have a manuscript written by Walther on bracteates from Magdeburg (which apparently did not survive).
