Rössler, Prof. Rudolf (28.04.1864 - 16.10.1934) |
Austrian painter, illustrator and etcher. Rössler studied at the Viennese Academy and then worked as a craftsman and painter of genre portraits. From 1887 to 1893 he was a professor at the School of Applied Arts. He worked on a decorative commission in England in 1890. Rössler was responsible for the design of a wide variety of Kronen banknotes from 1900 onwards, among others together with Rudolf Junk and Gustav Klimt. Lit.: Mittheilungen des K.K. Oesterr.
