Amadeus-Dier, Erhard (08.02.1893 - 25.09.1969) |
Austrian painter and graphic artist. Amadeus-Dier began as an illustrator and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Study trips took him to Switzerland, Italy and Spain. He composed, designed decorative art works (tapestries, wallpapers, windows, porcelain) and painted also portraits and animal paintings. 1921 he became a member of the Künstlerhaus. From 1937 to 1943 he was represented at all the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich and from 1939 to 1942 he was the chief designer of the Rosenthal porcelain factory in Berlin. He designed, among other things, the 100-Schilling banknote of 1949, 50-Schilling note of 1951 and 1000-Schilling note of 1954. Lit.: R. Teichl, Österreicher der Gegenwart.
