German orientalist and diplomat. Ennobled in 1786. Prussian representative in Constantinople from 1784 to 1790. Diez bequested his library, including his collection of coins from the Orient, to the Prussian State. His coins entered the Münzkabinett Berlin under the number Acc. 1820 Diez. |
