Timarchos (c. 164-161 BC), Seleucid usurper (-160 v. Chr.) |
Timarchus of Miletus was a satrap (governor) of Media during the rule of Antiochus IV. When the king died in 164 BC, he became a virtually independent ruler in his own right. Timarchus actively opposed Demetrius I and struck precious metal coins and bronze coins in Ecbatana and Seleukia on the Tigris before being defeated by Demetrius I. |
