	British ambassador in Constantinople from 1776 to 1791. Later a member of parliament. Orientalist and numismatist. Collection published by Domenico Sestini in 1789-1790, 1794, 1796 and later. There identified as 'Maecenas'. Coins from his collection were not purchased directely, but entered Berlin Münzkabinett holdings mostly via the acquisition of the 1873 Fox collection, who in turn had bought them at the Lord Northwich sale in London.
