Name |
Vautier, Paul Louis (18.09.1865 - 03.05.1930) |
Swiss merchant and art collector. Born in Düsseldorf, and a long time resident there and in Yokohama. Vautier died in 1930 in Zürich. Collector of Roman and Swiss coins. Donation to the Münzkabinett in 1914. Additional ancient coins from his collection were sold by Naville Auction 2, 1922 and bought by the Münzkabinett Berlin. As this auction included the collection of Prof Maxime Collignon (1849-1917), no attribution is possible. See the combined entry for Vautier-Collignon. Vautier's Swiss collection was sold by Adolph Hess Nachfolger in Luzern, Auction sale 205 of 15 September 1931. Papers relating to this collection (additions to C. F. Trachsel's Die Münzen und Medaillen Graubündens, Signature XI 2152) are today being kept in the Münzkabinett Winterthur. |
