Coin collector. Ward's collection was bought by J. Pierpont Morgan, who in turn donated it to the Metropolitan Museum in New York. In 1973 the Metropolitan Museum decided to sell these coins and those of other collections with the help of Sotheby's in Zurich! Lit.: J. Ward, Greek Coins and their Parent Cities (1902) [including a catalogue of his collection, the relevent part having been reprinted in 1967 in San Diego]. |
