Cahn, Prof. Dr. Herbert A. (28.01.1915 - 05.4.2002) |
Numismatist, archaeologist, dealer in coins and art. Cahn also taught at the Universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg. He was a son of the coin dealer Ludwig Theodor Cahn, grandson of Adolph E. Cahn. He worked in his father's business and had to flee Germany for Switzerland in 1933. Cahn became a Swiss citizen in 1949. Together with his brother Erich B. Cahn he founded the Münzhandlung Basel, which was renamed Münzen und Medaillen AG in 1942. In 1988 the company H. A. C. Kunst der Antike was established. |
