Person GND

Name

Heraios

Magistrate in Cyme/Aeolis between c. 250 and 190 BC.

His name appears on coins with the representation of the amazon Cyme (e.g. BMC Troad p. 109 no. 53; SNG Copenhagen 21 no. 87; SNG Aulock no. 7695). He presumably is not the same individual as the magistrate of the same name, who (obviousy earlier) issued coins bearing an eagle or forepart of a horse.

Lit.: W. Leschhorn, Lexikon der Aufschriften auf griechischen Münzen II (2009) p. 533 (250-190 BC); Th. Corsten, Lexicon of Greek Personal Names V A. Coastal Asia Minor (2010) s. v. Heraios (no. 2) (3rd century BC).
