Designed on behalf of Hieronymus Graf von Colloredo, archbishop of Salzburg, in 1790, these Taler coins had to be melted down again because the Elector of Bavaria did sucessfully object to the use of lions - a secular privilege - on the reverse of a coin issued by an ecclesiastical authority. |
