Stubenrauch, Karl (1818-07.12.1900) |
Die-engraver at the Darmstadt mint. Stubenrauch signs with his initials KS. Studied in Binbgen in 1839 (being 21 years of age). In Rome 1844/45 and possibly in 1850, too (which is questionable, see below). Also active as a medalist. Stubenrauch emigrated to the Unitesd States and is attested in the 1850 census at St. Louis. between 1853 and 1859 in New York. Lit.: M. G. Pfefferkorn, Charles Stubenrauch.
