Tanner, John Sigismund (1705-14.03.1775) |
Born in Germany. Became assistant to John Crocker at the Royal Mint in 1729, succeeding him in the positon of chief engraver in 1741. Tanner worked at the mint shortly before his death in 1775. He did produce medals, too. Lit.: L. Forrer, Biographical dictionary of Medallists VI (1916) 14-15. |
