Name |
Plancius Varus |
The name appears in Greek on coins from Apamea/Phrygia during the reign of Vespasianus. A Plancius Varus is also attested as a legatus pro praetore under Vespasian (S. Mitchell, JRS 1974, p.27). He is presumably the same individual as this magistrate known from Apamea. Lit.: RPC I p. 506; RPC II pp. 211-212 no. 1389 (under Vespasian); W. Leschhorn, Lexikon der Aufschriften auf griechischen Münzen II (2009) pp. 734, 757 (AD 69-79). |
