Thomas Ollive Mabbott was an American literary scholar. One of Mabbott's hobbies was numismatics. He bought his first coin at the age of 12 and kept it for his entire life. His specialty were coins from the time of the early Roman Empire. He was an expert and published articles on the subject. From 1943 to 1948 Mabbott was also the editor of the Numismatic Review. The American Numismatic Association awarded him the Medal of Merit in 1950 for his work in this field. |
