Entrepreneur, donor, and coin collector. An important part of his coin collection (4,041 Swiss coins) was bequeathed to the Schweizerisches Landesmuseum Zürich (today Schweizerisches Nationalmuseum) in 1913. Another part (Roman coins) was sold within the family and finally auctioned in 2003 ((Münzen und Medaillen AG, Basel, Auction 93 on 16 December 2003). |
