Normann, Fritz (03.02.1884 - 04.10.1936) |
German merchant in Breslau (Wrocław) and Schneidemühl. Coin collector. Son of Albert Normann [born Samuelsohn, change of family name to Normann in 1911 when converting to the Protestant faith] (1852-1933) and of Johanna Normann (1856-1921). Following Fritz Normann's death in October 1936 his collection of coins was in possession of his sisters Minna Charlotte Johanna Carolina (2 March 1886 - 13 February 1941) and Margarethe Normann (12 April 1889 - 24 January 1941). Margarthe Normann committed suicide in January 1941, as did her sister Minna Charlotta in February 1941. According to Lieslotte Neddermeyer, the daughter of Margarethe, both sisters had been summoned by the Secret Police (Gestapo) in Schneidemühl in January 1941, where they were to be forced to use the name Samuelsohn again. Their possessions, including their late brother's coin collection, had been confiscated by the German Reich already in 1940. See the entry on Stadt Schneidemühl and our documentation in e-museum, Archiv Münzkabinett 2. Die Erwerbung 'von der Regierung in Schneidemühl aus jüdischem Besitz' von 1942 and chapters 2.1-5. |
