Strobel, Karl (Hans) |
Little is known about Karl Strobel's biography. He is recorded as H(ans) Strobel working as a medallist in Nuremberg and Vienna in the 1870s. As a die cutter, Strobel worked for the Christlbauer minting company in Vienna. As a medallist he created the medal for the 1873 World's Fair with the portrait of Emperor Franz Josef I on the obverse, 1873. He also made medals for Wilhelm I on the occasion of the Imperial Parade of the 9th Regiment in Lockstedt, 1881, on Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, 1889, and a portrait plaque for Philip of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha on the occasion of his 70th birthday, among others.
