Hansen, Henning (um 1565-1623) |
Also known as Hannes or Hein Hans. Mentioned for the first time als Münzgeselle (assistant) in 1659 in the files of the Brunswick mint. In 1593 during the Probationstag in Worms he is named as mintmaster of Nassau-Saarbrücken. Mintmaster in Hildesheim from 1601 to 1605, and in Dortmund from 1602 to 1605. In 1604 and 1605 he was mintmaster in Hessisch Oldendorf, and from 1604 to 1618 in Altona. Mintmaster in Lüneburg from 1609 to 1612, in Hamburg in 1619 and 1620, and finally in Winsen an der Luhe from 1622 to 1623. From 1604 to 1618 mintmaster of the mints in Altona and Oldendorf (which were administered together by a single mintmaster since 1609 to avoid legal problems for running to mints in one territory [compare Weinmeister (1908) p. 420]. In 1621 again for a brief period mintmaster in Altona. Hansen's personal symbal are a cross pattée and crossed Zainhaken (mint master's tool). Hansen died in 1623. Lit.: H.
