Loos, Daniel Friedrich (15.06.1735 - 01.10.1819) |
Medalist, student of Johann Friedrich Stieler. In 1754 a die-engraver at the Leipzig mint, and in 1756 in Magdeburg. In 1768 Loos moved to the Berlin mint. Loos took over his post from Georgi and was appointed chief engraver and court medalist in 1787. Loos in 1819 established the private company Berliner Medaillenprägeanstalt. An earlier founding date of 1776 has no merit. For the later fate of the company see under Ostermann, Krüger. |
