Linguist from Frisia, councillor in Oldenburg. Ehrentrauth's collection was divided into three parts following his death in 1866 by his heirs. One third came to Berlin, of which the best 134 specimen (including 18 gold and 32 silver coins) were purchased for the Münzkabinett Berlin. Purchased from Prof Dr Meinardus in Oldenburg in 1872 from the collection of Hofrat Ehrentrauth for 515 Reichstalers. Lit.: Friedländer - von Sallet ²(1877) pp. 37-38. |
