Senckler, Adolf (-um 1862) |
Adolf Senckler of Cologne. Prussian Artillery Major, later Lieutenant Colonel. Senckler also owned 22 gold coins of the Gustorf hoard, which were auction in 1847. He was also the author of some numsimatic publications. Coins were acquired for the Münzkabinett Berlin with the help of the Agent general Pasenau of Magdeburg from Senckler's bequest in 1862. Major Senckler is possibly the same individual as a Mr Senckler, who in 1842 sold two coins to the Münzkabinett Berlin. Several hundret of his coins were given by Senckler to Dr Elberling. Lit.: FMRD VI-3-4 pp. 194-195 on no. 3117; Catalogue de la collection de médailles Romaines de Mr. Senckler (1847). |
