Whittall, James John (20.10.1819 - 03.02.1883) |
British merchant, born in Smyrna. Whittall's residence was at Bournebat (Bornova), where he was later buried. Known collector of ancient coins. Whittall was in contact amongst others with Anton Prokesch von Osten, who visitied him in 1862. His collection was sold by Sotheby's Nov 15th, 1858, and between May 20-28th, 1867. |
