	Architect from Hannover. In 1967 Wimmelmann became one of the founders of the Gesellschaft der deutschen Medaillenfreunde GDDM (Society of the Friends of the German medal). A collection of 200 art medals (and a few coins) were donated to the Münzkabinett Berlin in 2002 by his widow Susanne Wimmelmann (22 Nov 1926 - 16 February 2015). More additions were made in 2007.
