Allier de Hauteroche, Louis (24.01.1766 - 17.11.1827)

Coin collector.

Conul in Heraclea at the Black Sea and in Cos. Attaché in Smyrna.

Travelled in Greece and Egypt, and made an extensive journey through Turkey in 1817.

Collection published by Th. M. Dumersan, Déscription des médailles antiques du cabinet de feu Allier de Hauteroche, Paris (1829).

Allier de Hauteroche' collection in 1829 was still in posession of his heirs, and later sold. Today major parts are kept in the coin cabinetts of London and Paris.

Gold coins from his collections were sold to the Duke of Blacas: H. Grote, Blätter für Münzkunde 3, 1837, p. 52. These, too, today are in the British Museum since 1866.
