Became second Earl Amherst, Viscount Holmesdale in 1857. British peer and member of partliament. His collection was auctioned by Sotheby's from 8th to 13th, and on 15th July 1850. British Numismatic Auction Catalogues 1710-1984 (1986) p. 95 identifies 'Viscount Holmesdale' as the son of the father of the same name (1773-1857). |
