The last representative of the house of Palatinate-Simmern. Charles II identified his grand uncle, the elector of Barndenburg, Fredrick William, as his heir who should receive his collection of coins, medals, and gems. Charles' successor in the Palatinate, Philip William, accordingly ordered on Charles II death the delivery of the collection to Berlin. Parts of the collection had previoulsy published by Beger in the Thesaurus ex Thesauro Palatino selectus (1685). |
