Electrum Trachy Electrum TrachyA Byzantine denomination of electrum of the reform of Alexios I Komnenos (1081-1118), of concave shape. Its value is c. 8 carats, 1/3 of Hyperpyron, but it will debase in time, to 5 and 2.5 carats, with hardly any gold recorded for Alexios III (1195-1203), the last emperor to issue this denomination. It was also produced during the divided empire in Nicaea, Epirus, Thessalonica, Serbia. |
