Philip of Weinsberg (1447-1503), Leeseholder of the Imperial mint

Leaseholder of the Imperial mint in Nördlingen.

As of 1431 the mint of Nördlingen (which was established in 1418), together with those of Frankfurt and Basel were given in leese to Konrad of Weinsberg. As debts were not paid by his death in 1452 the leese continued to be held by the family. As inheritage it came into the possession of the counts of Eppstein-Königstein in 1503 and later the line Stolberg-Königstein, wo execeuted their privileges still in the 16th century.
