Name

Fricke, Andreas

Mintmaster in Moritzberg for the bishop of Hildesheim from 1 January 1613 to mid-1618.

On 24 August 1612 having been already accepted as the mintmaster for the bishop of Hildesheim in Moritzberg, Fricke applied at the episcopal government for his official certificate of appointment, which was sent to him after repeated petitions on 1 January 1613. On 12 January 1613 he obliged to pay an annual sum of 100 Reichstalers to the bishop. After legitimate accusations of producing poor coins, his tools, dies, and coins produced were confiscated. When Fricke accepted to pay a penalty of 500 Reichstalers to the bishop, he again was appointed mintmaster. In mid-1618 his employment there ceased.

Fricke signs with a Zainhaken (mintmaster’s tool). His seal is an A, above which is a vertical Zainhaken.

Mintmaster in Hannover from 24 October 1618 to December 1619.

From 1622 to 1630 mintmaster for the city of Hildesheim.

Fricke became a citizen of Hildesheim in 1604. He died in 1640.
