Name

Huxer, Caspar (1552-1629)

Originates from (Hanoverian?) Münden. According to Ihl-Schwede (2016) p. 73, Huxer was responsible for the coinage of the county of Waldeck from 1590 to 1596. Klüßendorf et al. (1982) pp. 45-46 list him only as mintmaster at the Waldeck mint of Niederwildungen.

From 1601 to 1602 he was mintmaster in Detmold for Count Simon VI zur Lippe. According to Ihl-Schwede (2016) p. 74) from 1608 to presumably 1614 Huxer was once again mintmaster for the counts of Waldeck, but the mint itself is not identified. Afterwards he took on various functions for the Counts of Waldeck, and from 1625 to 1627 he was master smith at the archbishop's mint in Bremen. In 1627 he returned to Wildungen, where he died in 1629.

Huxer signs with two crossed cain hooks (mintmaster's tools) pierced with an arrow pointing downwards.
